The application of titanium in the field of photographic equipment has a long history. In 1953, the Japanese Optical Industry Company was the first to apply titanium material to the metal curtain of the shutter on the focal plane of a camera. Precisely because titanium possesses characteristics such as high temperature resistance, durability, resistance to aging, light weight, high bending stiffness, and resistance to impact, it has become an ideal choice to meet the strict requirements of the shutter curtain.

As the application of titanium materials in the camera field expands, the first pocket-sized camera with a fully titanium shell was launched in December 1990. This marks a significant breakthrough for titanium as a material for camera housings. After overcoming various technical difficulties in good surface uniformity and anti-pollution capabilities, the application of titanium in camera shells has been realized. The amount of titanium material used as a shell material has exceeded 2 tons per month, and the produced parts include front and rear covers, upper and lower covers, and lens protection covers, etc.

With the continuous changes in the appearance of digital cameras, the demand for externally titanium materials has become limited. Therefore, the future research focus should shift to the internal components of cameras. For example, in terms of improving prism magnification, resolution, and miniaturization, titanium materials show their potential for application. Especially for the currently popular aspherical prism lenses, their sensitivity to deformation force is greater than that of spherical lenses. If titanium materials can be used in the prism frame inside, and due to its lower thermal expansion coefficient than aluminum and engineering plastics, it has certain advantages in use.

The application of titanium in photographic equipment has achieved remarkable results. With the continuous progress of technology and the diversification of demands, the application prospects of titanium materials in the field of photographic equipment will be even broader.
