Titanium Alloy Deburring Process

 

 

Why Deburr?

 

 

Deburring is necessary because it can affect product accuracy and assembly performance. Titanium alloys, due to their material properties (low thermal conductivity and susceptibility to hardening), present a higher difficulty in deburring.

Deburring is classified into three types, and the removal methods vary:

 

 

 Hard Deburring (Large, Edge Offsets)

1. Manual Grinding: Use a file or grinding machine.

2. Grinding Wheel Processing: Use a grinding wheel machine or angle grinder.

The operation is simple but relies on manual experience. Safety must be noted to prevent over-grinding.

 General Deburring (Conventional Edges)

1. Grinding Belt: Use a grinding belt for friction removal.

2. Polishing: Use polishing agents and tools for polishing.

The surface smoothness can be controlled by changing different coarse and fine consumables.

 Small Deburring (Tiny, Microscopic)

1. Vibration/Grinding: Place small parts in a machine for rolling and friction.

2. Electrochemical: Use electrolytic corrosion for precise removal.

Suitable for batch processing of small parts; the electrochemical method has high precision and is suitable for complex cavities and precision parts.

 

How to Quickly Select the Appropriate Method?

 

 

 Simple parts, small quantity, low requirements: Use manual or grinding belt for deburring, economical and flexible.

 Complex parts, large quantity, high precision requirements: Use vibration polishing (for small parts in batch) or electrochemical method (for high precision, cavities), high efficiency and stable quality.
