GR5 Titanium Medical Bar

Overview
GR5 Medical Titanium Rod is manufactured from Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Extra Low Interstitials) - the most widely used titanium alloy in orthopedic implant manufacturing globally. With UTS ≥ 860 MPa and excellent fatigue resistance, it's engineered for devices that bear physiological loads every day.
Our rods are produced in Baoji, China's Titanium Valley, using double-VAR melted ingots, precision forging, and centerless grinding. Every lot is verified by Baoti Experimental Center and the Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research.
The highest-strength medical titanium alloy for load-bearing implants. 2.5× stronger than CP Grade 2 - trusted by orthopedic and spinal implant manufacturers worldwide.
Looking for higher ductility over strength? Our GR2 CP Titanium Rod offers 20%+ elongation with superior biocompatibility for non-load-bearing applications.

Why Ti-6Al-4V ELI Dominates Implant Manufacturing
Exceptional Strength
With UTS ≥ 860 MPa and yield ≥ 795 MPa, Ti-6Al-4V ELI handles the highest physiological loads - from hip replacement stems to spinal fixation systems - without deformation or fatigue failure.
- 2.5× stronger than CP Grade 2 titanium
- Fatigue limit ~500 MPa at 10⁷ cycles
- Superior strength-to-weight ratio (40% lighter than CoCr)
Proven Biocompatibility
Decades of clinical evidence across millions of implantations. Ti-6Al-4V ELI produces no adverse tissue response, promotes osseointegration, and is safe for nickel-sensitive patients (contains zero nickel).
- ISO 10993 biocompatibility compliant
- FDA Master File recognized for 510(k)
- Nickel-free: safe for 100% of patients
Reduced Stress Shielding
At ~114 GPa, Ti-6Al-4V's modulus is 40% lower than cobalt-chromium and 40% lower than stainless steel - significantly reducing the stress shielding effect that causes peri-implant bone resorption.
- E-modulus: 114 GPa (vs. CoCr 230 GPa, SS 190 GPa)
- Promotes physiological load transfer to bone
- Reduces risk of aseptic loosening long-term
Corrosion & Fatigue Resistance
The self-passivating TiO₂ oxide film protects against pitting, crevice corrosion, and fretting corrosion at modular junctions - the most common failure mode in hip and knee implants.
- Excellent fretting corrosion resistance at taper junctions
- Stable passive film in blood and tissue fluid
- Compatible with all sterilization methods
Precision-Machined Quality
Centerless ground to h7 tolerance with Ra ≤ 0.8μm - ready for your CNC to machine into femoral stems, tibial trays, spinal cages, and dental abutments with minimal material waste.
- Diameter tolerance: h7 / h8 per ISO 286
- Straightness: ≤ 1mm/m on ground bars
- Consistent machinability lot-to-lot
Complete Traceability
Every rod ships with EN 10204 Type 3.1 certification - full chemistry, mechanical test results, NDE reports, and lot traceability from sponge to finished product. Ready for your regulatory submission.
- Mill Test Certificate per EN 10204 Type 3.1
- Heat number traceable to VAR melt
- SGS / TÜV / BV third-party inspection available

Where GR5 Titanium Delivers Results
The go-to alloy for every load-bearing implant and precision surgical device.

Joint Replacement & Trauma
Hip stems, femoral components, tibial trays, bone screws, spinal cages, and trauma fixation plates - the highest-demand implant applications.

Dental Implant Systems
Endosseous fixtures, multi-unit abutments, and bar-retained prosthetics. Higher strength enables narrower implant designs for limited bone volume.

Surgical instruments and operating room equipment
Retractor handles, bone cutting guides, surgical drill bit blanks, trial implant sizing instruments, and high-stress surgical tool components requiring superior hardness and wear resistance over GR2 pure titanium.

Cardiovascular Devices
Custom cranial plates, orbital floor meshes, mandibular reconstruction plates, and midface fixation - patient-specific or standard geometries.
