The Ru–Ir electrocatalytic coating exhibits a notably low chlorine evolution potential. It also provides high electrical conductivity and maintains stable performance under corrosive conditions, resisting passivation over prolonged operation.
In electrochemical water treatment applications, the coated anodes generate hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and active chlorine species in situ. Both species contribute to effective disinfection, algal control, and the breakdown of organic contaminants.

- Features a premium Grade 1 titanium substrate (≥ 99.6% purity) coated with an optimized nano-structured Ruthenium-Iridium (Ru-Ir) mixed metal oxide (MMO) formula.
- During continuous water electrolysis, the Ru–Ir MMO coating reduces the chlorine evolution overpotential. This results in higher current efficiency and lower power consumption.
High polarization resistance & dimensional stability
- These anodes are designed as Dimensionally Stable Anodes (DSA). Geometric dimensions and electrode spacing do not change over long-term operation.
- Electrode deformation and polarization degradation are both suppressed. As a result, a uniform electric field distribution is maintained throughout the electrolytic cell.
Exceptional corrosion resistance in aggressive media
- The MMO coating functions as a stable protective barrier. It shields the titanium base from passivation and chemical attack, even in high-chloride, acidic, or mildly reducing water.
- Pitting and crevice corrosion are not observed under exposure to high-velocity saltwater, industrial wastewater, or concentrated brine.
