Grade 2: The Industry Workhorse
If you're unsure which CP grade to specify, Grade 2 is almost always the answer. It offers sufficient strength (345 MPa UTS) for the vast majority of implant and device applications, with excellent formability and the corrosion resistance that makes titanium famous. It's specified in more medical device designs than all other CP grades combined.
F67 vs. F136: When to Choose Pure Over Alloy
Choose F67 (CP titanium) when biocompatibility and corrosion resistance are the priority and loads are moderate - bone plates, dental components, cardiovascular devices, surgical instruments. Choose F136 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) when strength is critical - load-bearing joint replacements, spinal cages, trauma fixation under high stress.
