What is a titanium plate heat exchanger?

The titanium plate heat exchanger is a new type of highly efficient heat exchanger composed of a series of metal plates with a certain wavy shape. Various plate pieces form thin rectangular channels, and heat energy is exchanged through the semi-plates. Compared with the conventional shell-and-tube heat exchanger, in the same flow resistance and pump power consumption conditions, its heat transfer coefficient is much higher. Within the applicable range, it has the tendency to replace the shell-and-tube heat exchanger.

The titanium plate heat exchanger mainly consists of a frame and titanium plates. The plates are made by pressing thin plates of various materials into different shapes with various production models. There are angle holes at the four corners of the plate for the flow channels of the medium. The periphery and angle holes of the plate are sealed with rubber gaskets. The frame is composed of fixed pressing plates, working pressing plates, upper and lower guide rods, and clamping bolts, etc. The plate heat exchanger is to stack the plates in the middle of the fixed pressing plate and working pressing plate and then clamp them with clamping bolts.

Titanium plate heat exchangers, the commonly used materials for heat exchanger plates mainly include austenitic stainless steel, titanium alloy, nickel-nickel alloy cold-rolled plates, industrial pure titanium 127, plate heat exchangers. Industrial pure titanium 276 and Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni 345 are used for tube heat exchangers. Plate heat exchangers made of GR1 titanium plates have many advantages compared to tubular heat exchangers and have strong competitiveness in the market. They are mainly used in heat exchange systems in chemical industry, petroleum, ships, seawater desalination, etc.

What are the advantages of the titanium plate heat exchanger?

1. High efficiency and energy saving: Its heat transfer coefficient ranges from 3000 to 4500 kcal/m2·℃·h, which is 3 to 5 times higher than the thermal efficiency of shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

2. Compact and close: The plate of the plate heat exchanger is precisely arranged. Compared with other types of heat exchangers, the plate heat exchanger has less floor space and occupies less space. The area of the plate heat exchanger with the same heat transfer capacity is only 1/5 of that of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger.

3. Easy to clean and disassemble: The plate heat exchanger is clamped by tightening bolts, so it is convenient to disassemble. It can be opened for cleaning at any time. At the same time, because the plate surface is smooth, the turbulence is deep and water scale is not easy to form.

4. Long service life: The plate heat exchanger uses stainless steel or titanium alloy plates for pressing. It can withstand various corrosive media. The gasket can be changed at will and it is convenient for disassembly and maintenance.

5. Strong adaptability: The plate of the plate heat exchanger is a self-contained element. It can be increased or decreased according to requirements for the process, and there are various forms. It can be applied to various different process requirements.

6. No liquid leakage: The sealing groove of the plate heat exchanger is equipped with a drainage channel. Various media will not be mixed. Even if there is leakage, the medium will always be discharged outward.

Therefore, at present, titanium plate heat exchangers have been widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical engineering, light industry, power, metal smelting, machinery, and energy. They have become a highly competitive type among the relatives of heat exchangers. China began to produce plate heat exchangers in the 1960s and has since then widely applied them in many fields in China. Recently, the domestic titanium plate plate heat exchanger for a 20 million ton/year integrated refining and chemical project has been completed. This project is the first to use domestic titanium plates as raw materials, breaking the technological monopoly of foreign enterprises and achieving the domestic manufacturing of seawater titanium plate plate heat exchangers.
