Recently, a 170MN rapid forging unit independently developed by a company in Xi'an successfully completed the hot test and has officially met the conditions for production. This equipment is currently the largest tonnage rapid forging equipment in China, specializing in the high-temperature rapid forging process of titanium alloys. It has broken the foreign technical barriers of high-end difficult-to-form metal rapid forging equipment, achieving a key breakthrough in the field of high-end forging equipment in our country.
This 170MN rapid forging unit has been specially developed for the high-temperature rapid forging conditions of titanium alloys. It precisely meets the forging production requirements for aerospace titanium alloy billets, solving the "equipment bottleneck" problem that has long constrained the mass production of high-end titanium alloy forgings in China. During this hot trial phase, the entire unit operated smoothly, with all control systems working in coordination and efficiently and stably. All core performance parameters met the design standards, and the continuous forging and forming test of large-scale high-temperature titanium alloy billets was successfully completed. The two core capabilities of equipment bearing capacity and forging control accuracy were verified in practice.
Titanium alloys, as key structural materials in the aerospace and high-end equipment manufacturing sectors, the forming capability of large-sized titanium alloy forgings directly determines the manufacturing level of high-end aviation components. In the past, the supply of large-tonnage high-speed forging equipment was limited, which to some extent restricted the expansion and upgrading of the domestic aerospace titanium material industry. After this equipment is put into operation, it can significantly enhance the large-scale and high-precision forging capacity of titanium alloy forgings in China, and fill the gap in the thermal processing industrial chain of aerospace titanium materials in the northwest region.
The successful hot trial of the largest-tonnage rapid forging unit in China this time is not only an important achievement in the cultivation of new productive forces in Xi'an, but also will further strengthen Shaanxi's core position in the national titanium alloy forging industry chain, laying a solid foundation for the domesticization process of high-end equipment such as domestic large aircraft and aerospace vehicles.
